We're in our last official week of January already, February is looming round the corner bringing with it a torrent of love hearts - that's how I like to imagine February, bursting through the door with an explosion of pink and red love hearts. I know some people go on a rant about commercialisation etc etc but I do love the... love!
My wonderful darling bubba has me on the strictest budget ever this year - this is thanks to my desire for a rather large new-build penthouse this year :) so I'm willing to go along with it for once. I have not only got a budget spreadsheet but I have a spreadsheet to monitor my credit card AND the much anticipated (purely by me) presents spreadsheet that spans the entire year taking into account Valentines, Easter, our Anniversary, birthdays and Christmas (I know I know, calm down I only said the word!).
So I'm working on thrify and crafty present ideas, which is challenging to say the least as I don't tend to find cheaper ways to do things, and as one of my friends already does food gifting I don't really want to venture into that territory. But it is making me actively think about budget constraints and what I can do cheaper but still achieve the same quality.
I've thought of a great present for bubs for I think his birthday, but that could change back to Christmas depending on how it pans out. I've also got some cute little cross-stitches to do for my Aunt and Mum for Easter - I'm desperately thinking of what I can do to turn these into more of a present. I don't want to do the granny-esque card with the cross-stitch, I could do a little hand warmer type affair with lavender in it but for your closet? Any ideas are more than welcome!
I have got a great present together already for my BFF and her partner, so I'm super psyched about that. I am finding that my family are the hardest though, we spend so much on each other at these events that its hard to try and find high quality craft items or thrifty presents I can get without them looking crafted or cheap! Taking into account that my brother is in the Forces and the constraints and likes/dislikes of my parents... challenging!
I did make some hand warmers last week which my mother quickly stole to use as moth repellers in her wardrobe - sigh! But I was pleased with myself that I'd even taken the time to make them, to use my store of dried lavender for good! I'll make another smaller, cuter batch for my BFF as she always has cold hands and for my Aunt who can use them in her wardrobe - I pay switch to rose for her though. I actually don't have a lot of people I buy presents for so not a lot of people I can do smaller crafty presents for!
I absorbed myself on Pinterest the other day looking at craft ideas, which I will no doubt do again! Some people are so clever to think of using old worn out things and upcycling them into something new, giving them a new lease of life. I need to get my creative hat back on (I don't need it normally so this is fun!). Please comment with your ideas or good blogs or whatever - all ideas welcome!!
